Insider-dealing refers to trading in financial securities by anyone who could possess confidential information about the company whose shares are traded. Such people could be corporate officers, directors, staff, or anyone close to a person that could possess such information about the company whose securities are traded.
Insider dealing is legal when the person who is buying the securities does so, only, based on publicly available information. The Nigerian Stock Exchange has made it a requirement to disclose any dealing activity that involves an insider.
